What the customer wanted
- Add hydrophobic behavior on top of paint protection film
- Make bug and road-grime cleanup easier
- Match gloss between filmed and unfilmed panels
How we approached it
PPF and ceramic coating are complementary, not competing. Film takes the impacts; the coating handles chemical resistance, hydrophobicity and gloss.
Coating over film also makes the film itself easier to maintain, which extends how good it looks over its ten-year life.
Results
- Coating applied over both the PPF and the bare paint
- Uniform gloss across the whole car with no visible transition
- Contaminants release far more easily during washing
