Yes — that is exactly what it is designed for. PPF is a thick urethane laminate that absorbs the impact of gravel and road debris so the energy never reaches your paint. It also self-heals light scratches and swirls with heat. It is not indestructible: a large rock at highway speed can still cut through it, but the film takes damage that would otherwise be permanent paint damage.
Leave the windows rolled up for three to five days while the adhesive cures. Small water pockets or a slight haze during that window are normal and disappear as the moisture evaporates. After curing, clean with a soft microfiber and an ammonia-free cleaner — ammonia attacks the film's adhesive and scratch coat over time.
A typical sedan or SUV tint is two to three hours. A full front paint protection film package is generally a full day, and a ceramic coating with paint correction is one to three days depending on the correction required. Texas tint law, legality & how long film lasts
Texas law requires more than 25% VLT (visible light transmission) on the front side windows, meaning the film plus glass must let through more than 25% of light. Back side windows and the rear windshield can be any darkness on most vehicles as long as the car has both side mirrors. Reflectivity must be 25% or less, and red, amber and blue tint are not allowed on the front windows.
Not on the front side windows. 5% limo tint lets through only 5% of light, far below the 25% Texas minimum for the driver and front passenger windows. It is legal on back side windows and the rear windshield of most vehicles provided both side mirrors are present. We install 5% on rear glass regularly and pair it with a legal ceramic shade up front.
Only above the AS-1 line, or the top five inches of the windshield if no AS-1 line is marked, and that strip may not be red, amber or blue. A clear or very light ceramic IR film applied to the full windshield is a separate matter: because it does not meaningfully reduce visible light, it is the common way Texas drivers cut windshield heat while staying compliant.
An illegal tint citation in Texas is typically a fine in the range of roughly $110 to $275 depending on the county and whether it is a repeat offense, and the vehicle will also fail state inspection until the film is removed. Because a citation plus a removal-and-reinstall costs more than doing it legally the first time, we put a compliance sticker in the driver's door jamb on every install.
Yes. Texas allows a medical exemption for conditions such as lupus, photosensitivity, melanoma and certain autoimmune and ophthalmic disorders. You need a signed statement from a licensed physician or optometrist naming the condition and the need for sun screening, kept in the vehicle. The exemption still prohibits red, amber and blue film, and the signed statement must be produced at a traffic stop or inspection.

Maintenance means pH-neutral hand washes, a silica topper every three to four months, and an annual decontamination service, which most manufacturer durability warranties require. Anti-shatter film — also called safety or security film — is a thick, optically clear polyester laminate bonded to the interior face of the glass. It does not stop glass from breaking; it holds the broken fragments together in the frame, which prevents flying-glass injuries and delays forced entry. Rated products run 8 to 15 mil, and pairing them with a structural attachment system that bonds the film to the window frame is what converts glass retention into genuine intrusion delay.
