“Window tinting near me” is the search almost every customer runs before they call us, and the results rarely answer the three questions people actually have: what does it cost, what is legal in Texas, and how long will I be without my car. This guide answers all three for Montgomery County specifically.
Our shop sits at 5523 FM 1488 Rd, Suite B in Magnolia, which puts us inside a 35-minute drive of Conroe, The Woodlands, Willis, Montgomery, Pinehurst, Tomball and Spring. Everything below is what we actually quote and install here, not national averages.
What Window Tinting Costs in Montgomery County
Pricing is driven by glass count, film series and vehicle size, not by ZIP code. A two-door coupe and a three-row SUV are different jobs.
- Dyed film, full car: $150–$250 — short-term only, fades purple in Texas sun
- Carbon film, full car: $250–$400 — colorfast matte black, solid value
- Ceramic film, full car: $299–$599 — up to 97% infrared rejection, lifetime warranty
- Clear ceramic windshield film: $200–$400 — the single biggest heat win on any vehicle
- Old film removal: $25–$75 per window
- Home solar film: $7–$16 per square foot; safety and security film $14–$22 per square foot
Is Window Tint Legal in Texas?
Texas allows more than 25% visible light transmission on the front side windows, meaning the film plus the factory glass must let over a quarter of the light through. Behind the driver there is no darkness limit as long as the vehicle has both side mirrors. Windshields may be tinted above the AS-1 line, or fully covered with a clear infrared film that adds no darkness.
Red, amber and blue tints are not permitted, and reflectivity is capped at 25%. We cut to law by default and issue the state-required compliance sticker, so an inspection is never a surprise.
How Long Does Window Tinting Last?
A quality carbon or ceramic film installed correctly lasts the life of the vehicle and carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination and color change. Cheap dyed film in Montgomery County heat typically starts turning purple and bubbling in two to four summers.
Residential and commercial film is warranted for 10 to 15 years depending on the product and whether the glass is residential or commercial.
How Long Does the Appointment Take?
Most sedans and SUVs are two to three hours in the bay. A full front paint protection film package is one to two days, a ceramic coating is one to three days depending on paint correction, and a full color-change wrap is three to five days.
Film needs three to five days to fully cure. During that window a little haze or a few small water pockets are normal and clear on their own — just leave the windows up.

How to Choose a Tint Shop Near You
Ask three questions before you book anywhere. Is the shop a manufacturer-authorized dealer, so the warranty is honored nationwide rather than by one storefront that may close? Is the film cut on a computer plotter in a dust-controlled indoor bay, or hand-cut on the glass with a blade? And will they put the film series and the VLT in writing on the invoice?
We are a 3M authorized dealer, veteran-owned, installing indoors in Magnolia with 30 years behind the counter and a 5.0 Google rating.
